From the Editor
It's been a very productive break for us between the Fall 2007 issue of Creative TECHniques and this one. Joanna and I did a lot of research, found out what it was about the mag that readers liked, plus some stuff that they could do without. Our web designer, Jean Perlee, worked on freshening up our website to better reflect the content and style of the mag, and also found a provider to host our e-issue...
...What is our e-issue, you ask? It stopped being enough for us to tout the mag as a hip resource for today's computer crafters without doing something extremely technologically timely. We opted to launch an electronic version of the mag, complete with 25% extra content, which is available free to subscribers.
Do the math: a subscription includes four issues per year + 25% extra content per e-issue = one free issue per year (for a total of five issues)! This should be the perfect incentive for those of you who have so far wavered about subscribing. I've also made some changes to the mag that may seem slight, but are actually very accommodating.
First, the results of our Summer 2007 survey prove that readers didn't find the technology-related articles to be relevant, so I've cut back on them in lieu of more computer-craft-related pieces.
Second, Mac users yelped loud enough for me to take a serious look at how our instructions are illustrated. The software our projects require works basically the same for both PC and Mac versions, so we're now mixing them up so Mac and PC users can all feel at home.
Third, readers want to know about more new products, so we're devoting extra mag real estate to introducing stuff we think is cool.
Fourth, it turns out the majority of readers use Photoshop Elements, so we're limiting the number of projects that require CS versions of Photoshop.
I sincerely hope you like what we've done. As always, we need you to email us at editors@creativetechniquesmag.com with your feedback. Remember, this is your magazine, so it's up to you to let us know how we're doing.
